Frelinghuysen Marsh contains a wet meadow and forested wetlands surrounding Silver Brook which flows through the property. The conservation values of this preserve include water quality protection, wildlife habitat, and natural scenic beauty. A portion of this property is actively managed for bog turtle habitat and a water control structure was installed in 2000. Woody vegetation is controlled by periodic mowing to preserve palustrine wetland habitat.
